Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is Miss Universe!
From Miss Varsity Cup to World Swimsuit Rookie then Miss South Africa to Miss Universe. That’s the remarkable rise to stardom of stunning 22-year-old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters
The Sedgefield beauty was crowned 2017 Miss Universe in a glittering ceremony at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in the early hours of Monday morning, and in doing so became the first South African since Margaret Gardiner in 1978 to claim the cherished prize.
‘South Africa, thank you for support and love throughout my #MissUniverse journey. I may be the new Miss Universe but I will always be your Miss South Africa – we did it!’ she tweeted. #MissUniverse was trending worldwide soon afterwards.
Nel-Peters features in the latest issue of World Swimsuit (South Africa), headline sponsored by Supabets Gaming Group, which is currently on shelf with SA Rugby magazine published by Highbury Media.
The Television Special ‘On Location with World Swimsuit’ will be broadcast on SuperSport Eight on the 27th November (channel 208) at 21:00 (CAT) which will feature Demi-Leigh as well as 10 other swimsuit beauties.
World Swimsuit, formerly Sports Illustrated Swimsuit South Africa, has been part of the South African media landscape for a number of years and in its 2016 issue it
featured Nel-Peters as a “World Swimsuit Rookie”. The reputable title has a history of identifying the top talent before fame and fortune becomes a reality.
Which is exactly what awaits Nel-Peters, who will move to her temporary home in New York ahead of a grueling schedule of work in her new capacity as Miss Universe.
Her advance to stardom is continued by a presence in the 2017 issue of World Swimsuit.
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters also features in the popular World Swimsuit mobile series ‘Be Your Best’ which is available to subscribers of all major mobile networks in SA.
The concept was born out of a desire to put valuable life advice in the hands of aspirational young women, covering everything from fashion and beauty to relationships, careers, finance and nutrition.
